Helmet Cameras
Travel restrictions due to Covid-19 is making commissioning and factory testing more difficult, so Logitech Engineering are now using high resolution Helmet Cameras to stream live data to clients and vendors. In July 2020, Logitech successfully completed the Factory Test and Commissioning of a new Thermal Oxidiser at Queensland Alumina which was manufactured in Victoria and commissioned in Gladstone QLD.
Hands-free operation (100% voice activated) even in very noisy environments up to 105dB, with no loss of signal strength or performance.
Digital Radios
In 2018, Logitech Engineering joined forces with Radlink to design a large-scale TETRA & DAMM digital radio system for the Port of Gladstone in Queensland. The system integrated four port facilities separated by up to 80km. A TETRA and DAMM system was selected due to performance and cost.
The transition from Analog to Digital radios has to be carefully managed to ensure that communication is always maintained to all personnel, ships, security, trucks and operators during the cut-over period.
Tetra digital radios can also be used to transmit control data for non-critical devices. Logitech Engineering conducted a comprehensive signal strength test across the Gladstone region, which led to the deployment of four DAMM base stations connecting over 600 portable radios, 87 vehicle radios and 18 fixed stations.
Telemetry
Reliable wireless communications can save time and money, but only if the data is secure. Using 128-bit encryption with random keys will keep your data safe, and automation system in control.
Logitech Engineering conduct signal strength analysis and line-of-site testing to ensure that the wireless network works first time, and is independent of weather or interference from other networks.
Buried Cables
An important part of secure communications is to utilise underground fibre communications. Buried cables and underground service trenches must be carefully planned to account for all other services and the final civil layout. Conduit stub-ups must come up at the exact location and finished surface level.
Logitech Engineering can plan all trench layouts, intermediate cable pits, and all network infrastructure.
Cable Management
Good cable management requires planning and attention to detail. Using 3D modelling programs such as SolidWorks makes the process much easier, but on-site management of cable pulling crews is also critical.
Logitech Engineering provide on-site engineering support for all aspects of the construction phase, with over 300 large construction projects completed over the last 30 years.
